About Tricia

Tricia Camacho

With over 20 years of experience crafting patterns for live entertainment costumes, Tricia Camacho has worked behind the scenes in some of the most dynamic and demanding industries, from Cirque du Soleil to high-end performance wear. Her expertise in pattern making and advanced sewing techniques has made her a sought-after professional in the field, and now, she’s on a mission to simplify pattern making for designers at all levels.

As the founder of Creative Costume Academy, Tricia shares her wealth of knowledge with aspiring designers, teaching them the foundational principles of pattern making in a way that is both accessible and enjoyable. She believes that anyone can learn the art of pattern making with the right guidance, and her courses are designed to break down complex techniques into easy-to-follow steps, helping students build confidence and skills to bring their creative visions to life.

But Tricia’s passion doesn’t stop at teaching—PatternCon has been a dream for years, a place where pattern makers, designers, and sewing enthusiasts can come together to learn, collaborate, and celebrate their craft. Her goal is to foster a community that supports and inspires one another, making pattern making more approachable and exciting for everyone.

Through her teaching, mentorship, the Fitabulous Fit Retreat Weekend (the 2025 retreat sold out in 45 seconds!) and now PatternCon, Tricia continues to bridge the gap between technical expertise and creativity, ensuring that more designers have the tools and knowledge to succeed in their craft.

A Look Back at the 2025 Fitabulous Fit Retreat Weekend!

Our 2025 Fitabulous Fit Retreat Weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina, was an unforgettable experience for 20 passionate sewists ready to take their fitting skills to the next level!

🧵 Day 1 kicked off with personalized bodice and skirt sloper fittings, using mock-ups tailored close to each attendee’s size for a smooth adjustment process.

✂️ Day 2 was all about refining those patterns, as participants learned how to translate their fitting adjustments into perfectly customized slopers.

👗 Day 3 (optional but too good to miss!) saw nearly everyone return to put their fitted slopers to work—designing and creating their own custom dress.

Beyond the hands-on learning, the weekend was filled with collaboration, creativity, and plenty of “aha!” moments as attendees supported each other and refined their skills together.

Check out the highlights below! We can’t wait to bring this experience to even more makers at the next event!
